Rick Kanuch

Rick was born and raised in Johnstown. While working on a golf course at age 12, he developed a love for golf and became interested golf course operations. Obtaining his associate’s degree in Turfgrass Management at Penn State opened many doors for him in the golf course maintenance world, including an internship at the famed Augusta National Golf Club.  

 

Rick took on the position of Facilities Manager at Valley School in 2010. An experienced and avid outdoorsman, he loves to share his knowledge with the students—from tree and insect identification and stream ecology to regional animal behaviors. The 5^th-grade class refers to him as “Captain Kanuch” while constructing their annual Settlement in the woods. Rick’s goal at Valley School is to provide the best learning and athletic environments possible throughout the Valley School Campus. 

 

Outside of Valley School, Rick's passion is training his small Münsterlander for upland hunting and a variety of skills needed to qualify for national championship opportunities. He also cherishes time with his family.
