Jolene Cummins

“Your mind is a garden. Your thoughts are the seeds. You can grow flowers or you can grow weeds.” I could not be more excited to join the Valley School family to plant and cultivate seeds of knowledge.”

I knew Valley School was a perfect fit for me the first time I walked down the winding, path to the front door. A Mount Pleasant native, I recently moved from rural Virginia to the Ligonier area to join the Valley School team as a second-grade teacher. 

 

My parents were both school teachers, so after raising my three children, I naturally gravitated towards education. Over the course of ten years at Verna Montessori School, I gained valuable experience teaching first-, second-, and third-grade students. I deepened my knowledge of the whole-child approach to teaching.  I now look forward to blending my knowledge and experiences from private and public-school environments to benefit the students at Valley.  

 

My love for flowers has me in my garden whenever possible.  I am so grateful for Valley School’s natural surroundings, and look forward to opportunities to connect our curriculum with outdoor learning.
